Schindler was upset with himself for not saving enough people, he considered himself selfish for keeping anything instead of selling it or trading it for at least one more person saved.
The movie and article also say the Holocaust was an act against humanity. That was why people hid the Jews in the article. Also, why the commander was hanged at the end of the movie.
