Did Communism Threaten America's Internal Security After WWII?

In my opinion yes, Communism did threaten America's Internal Security. I also thought the "yes" arguement was better.

The information in the "no" arguement said that thte First and Fifth Amendment rights were suspended. Laws/Amendments are necessary for security and equality for the American people. These Amendments were not followed because of the fear of Communism. What really turned me away from the "no" arguement was the mentioning of McCarthy. McCarthy hurt innocent people by accusing them without proof. Does that not prove that Communism hurt America's security?

Also, the "yes" arguement was better because it brought up the "Venona Project." This uncovered U.S. government officials passing information to the Soviet Union, the Communists. They also brought up two other hightly sensitive documents, The Secret World of American Communism and The Soviet World of American Communism.
